Love Your Legacy
Prayer Warrior Mama
Come as you are
A prayer warrior mama's kitchen table: a worn Bible, anointing oil, tea, sweet tea, cookies, muffins, a prayer list, and a letter with a gold pen

Leave your demons at the door and come inside, you can pick them back up again when you leave. That is the most honest welcome ever spoken at a doorway. No pretending at the threshold. Come in exactly as you are, and if you walk out still carrying them, at least you were inside for a while.

Words spoken to Corey Russell, standing at the door, before he gave his life to the Lord.

And yes, I can see her. The prayer warrior mama. Carpet worn thin in one spot beside the bed, knees that know the floor better than her feet know it, oil on her fingers and somebody’s name always on her lips. She is not polished and she is not quiet about God, and half the miracles in any family trace back to a woman like her that nobody ever put on a stage.

She belongs in this house. She is practically its patron saint: the ministry already runs on her kind of praying, on your knees, fasted, wept through. A room where the praying mamas are honoured and where a tired mother can come and be prayed for by women who have worn out their own carpets, that is a Love Your Legacy room if anything is.

“The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” (James 5:16, NIV)

The Kitchen Table

She is also the one who creates the prayer group in her humble home. It starts at the kitchen table over tea or sweet tea, moves to the living room with praise and worship, and the prayer can go all night, with other prayer warrior mamas, and they all come and go. And there is always food in the kitchen.

I experienced that once, and it was the most beautiful thing I ever witnessed and felt. I want that, and I need that, and I want to provide that safe space to come as you are, where Jesus himself would have his feet washed, where he would feel safe weeping.

Are you one of them?
