WHEN YOU STRUGGLE WITH YOUR WORTH

When You Struggle With Your Worth: Isaiah 62:3

Love your Legacy Devotional ~ By Tay

Opening Prayer

Jesus, I feel tolerated today, not treasured.

Like I am allowed in the room but not really wanted in it. Lift my eyes. Show me the difference between being put up with and being delighted in.

Let me feel the weight of Your delight.

Amen.

Scripture

Isaiah 62:3

“You will be a crown of splendor in the Lord’s hand, a royal diadem in the hand of your God.”

Reflection

Think of the last time someone truly delighted in something.

Maybe it was a child holding up a drawing, and the parent did not just glance at it. They stopped. They held it with both hands. They put it on the fridge where everyone would see it. That is delight. It is different from tolerance. Tolerance says you may stay. Delight says I am glad you are here.

God does not tolerate you. He cherishes you.

Read the picture Isaiah paints. You are not a crown sitting in a dusty box somewhere. You are a crown of splendor in the Lord’s hand. Held up. Displayed. A diadem is not jewellery you hide. It is jewellery you wear where everyone can see it. God holds you the way a king holds his crown: with intention, with pride, with care.

Now look at what came just before this promise. The people had been called Deserted. Forsaken. Their land was named Desolate. Those were not just descriptions. They were identities, spoken over them until they started to believe them. Maybe you know that feeling. Maybe someone’s words became your name for a while. Too much. Not enough. Hard to love.

God does not argue with the old names. He replaces them. “No longer will they call you Deserted,” He says, “but you will be called Hephzibah,” which means, my delight is in her. He takes the label off and writes a new one, in His own hand. You are cherished, not tolerated.

Here is the part that undoes me. A crown does not earn its place on the king’s head by being useful. It is not there because it worked hard. It is there because it is precious to the one who holds it. Your worth was never about your usefulness. It was always about His delight.

The next time you walk into a room and feel like an extra, remember the crown. You are not filler. You are not an afterthought squeezed into the corner. You are held up in the hand of God, and He is not embarrassed to be seen with you. He is delighted.

Journaling

  1. What old name have you been carrying that God wants to replace?

You might start with something like: I have been calling myself “too much” for years, and I am tired of wearing it.

  2. Where in your life do you feel tolerated instead of delighted in, and what would it look like to bring that to God?

It might be something small and gentle, like: at work I feel invisible, and I want to ask God to show me He sees me.

  3. What would change if you lived today as someone held in God’s hand, not hidden in a box?

You could gently say: I would walk a little taller and stop apologizing for taking up space.

Closing Prayer

Jesus, my King,

Thank You for not tolerating me. Thank You for delighting in me, for holding me up like something precious. Peel off the old names I have been wearing and write Yours over me.

I am cherished. I am Yours. Let that be the name I answer to today.

Amen.
